We kept the original exposed brick walls–replete with a railroad tie that someone magically stashed in the middle of a wall–but the space has changed quite a bit from when it housed the Big Casino Saloon and a liquor store the 1880’s. With 5,400 interior square feet, we can accommodate everything from a night out with friends, to business lunches and dinners to help close the deal, to intimate romantic dinners, to large parties and happy hour events.
Take a peek inside Batanga, and check out the plat map for the space in the 1880’s (then No. 68 Congress St.) and the advertisement for Charles Dumler & Emil Clede’s Big Casino Saloon. We even found one of the casino tokens.
At 3,600 square feet, our bricked patio is the largest patio in Downtown Houston. It’s the perfect place for an evening out with friends under the patio string lights, for happy hour with your co-workers and colleagues, or for relaxing on Sunday with half off all bottles of wine all day long (excluding bubbles), having a leisurely brunch with friends, or partaking in our three-course Sunday Supper consisting of whole roasted suckling pig, local farm salad and vegetable, and Chef’s dessert.
